What We Do

The Problem

Literacy is a right, not a privilege. Literacy goes far beyond the ability to read a book or write a letter. Illiteracy can cause immeasurable damage to an individual’s emotional and intellectual development, and often limits a person’s ability to achieve a fulfilling and successful adult life.

A unique opportunity to expand with Kid Scoop News.

KSN provides a unique and powerful way to reach millions more children in every state, in their classrooms, on-the-go, and at home. KSN’s mission is to provide engaging and accessible reading access to boost reading achievement, so kids can synthesize, analyze and articulate relevant topics and information.

  • KSN builds screen and print reading skills in a lively way. This connection engages kids, parents, young learners, newspapers in print and online, news associations as partners, and philanthropy. This collaboration develops critical reading skills essential for understanding and analyzing key current events.
  • KSN excites children’s curiosity with fun reading and math activities built on current information.
  • KSN promotes more reading time beyond the school day with sparkling stories about geography, history, biography, and science.

KSN develops media literacy by uniting:

  • Local Newspapers: reporting local, state, national, and international news.
  • Classrooms: augmenting literacy instruction.
  • Homes: supporting reading in the home with the 5-page Parent Guide in Spanish and English, and a pre-K page for early learners and their families.

The more kids read, the more they succeed!
