Skippyjon Jones is a great read-aloud book, full of witty rhymes and rich in imagination. It’s my five-year-old granddaughter Charlotte’s favorite because it’s “funny and crazy!”
Skippyjon is a boy kitty who sleeps with birds, does his laundry in a bird bath and needs to be reminded by Mama Junebug Jones that he is, in fact, a Siamese cat and not a Chihuahua. Sent to his room to think about this, he decides he is the desperado Chihuahua Skippito Friskito. His thoughts take him down a desert road far, far away in Old Mexico where he meets up with a band of Chihuahuas called Los Chimichangos. They enlist him for his sword wielding skills to face the humongous Bumblebeeto Bandito.
