Every day the things you choose to do, or not do, are lessons for your children. The adage, “Do what I say, not as I do,” simply doesn’t work when it comes to effective parenting, no matter how often parents might wish it were true. Get Caught Reading is a nationwide campaign to promote the fun of reading books for all ages. Launched in 1999 by the Association of American Publishers and now managed by Every Child a Reader with support from the Lois Lenski Covey Foundation, Get Caught Reading provides teachers and librarians with small posters of celebrities, authors and beloved book characters—each of them with a book! Who has been caught reading on their posters? First Lady Laura Bush, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Spider-Man, Dolly Parton, Whoopi Goldberg, Derek Jeter and more have all been featured on posters.
