Kid Scoop News in the Maker Lab – STEM Race Car Challenge

Nearly 1,000 students in the San Francisco Bay Area are busy in Maker Labs and classrooms working on finding a way to make the fasted gravity-powered race car for the Sonoma Raceway/Kid Scoop News STEM Race Car Challenge.

The students will have preliminary races at their school sites and the teams with the fastest cars at each school site will come to Sonoma Raceway on NASCAR Saturday June 22nd to race against other schools.

On NASCAR weekend, the winning teams from each school race their cars for the overall championship. The winning team gets to help start the Saturday race by greeting the drivers on the big stage, appear on the jumbo-tron and then yell the traditional race starting words, “Drivers start your engines!” And they do this on television!

Your ongoing support of Kid Scoop News is what makes innovative partnerships like this one to rev up interest in STEM a reality!

Thank you!
