Jadon: Who inspired you to play football and why?
Jim: My dad and my brother. Then a lot of the good coaches and teachers that I had, from Sister Agnes (when I was in the 3rd grade) to my college coach, Bo Schembechler, to Mike Ditka. There is my dad, my brother, and there are all those who you consider your favorite teacher or coach. Everybody has one in their life.
Jadon: What were some of the keys to stop the Saints offense?
Jim: Well, the thing about the Saints offense is that you can’t really stop them because they’re so good. You just hope to slow them down. Getting the two turnovers, the interceptions for touchdowns, were huge momentum swings for us. That slowed them down, but you can’t stop them. You’re never going to stop them cold because they’re so good!
Jadon: What advice would you give to kids pursuing a dream of playing football?
Jim: Well, it’s a great dream to have. Football to me is the best game ever invented. It works every muscle in your body and it makes you sleep really good at night. It takes a lot of courage to play football because there’s contact and getting hit or hitting somebody, but, I think it’s the greatest sport out there. There are a lot of different positions for all, where different body types can excel at football. You just gotta find your niche.
